"Align belief" sounds a lot like what you'd bring in a (gymno)sophist for. In fact, CBO (Chief Belief Officer sounds like something a rhetoric student could apply for after graduation).Casey, did we go all the way to India to finally find one another?Which is not to say I am completely on board with this very engaging guy.
No, right... actually, yes. In India is where I can meet the sophists. I was disappointed that he showed a chart of what happens to India as "globalization" runs its course. Modernism encroaches on all of the chaos and gray-area that is indigenous to India.... but no chart showing that, for America, globalization brings the encroachment of chaos and grayness into our efficient modernism. So here's my take: as India and America slowly exchange ideologies, until finally a perfect reversal has happened, you'll be content to remain an American, even becoming a polytheist eventually, comfortable with chaos and liminal space and whatever. I, unfortunately, am going to have to move to India. You're right, too: Chief Belief Officer is right up your alley! I wonder what he does with "the unpersuadables?"
You'll be able to stay if you want. And I think, after reflection, that I may have already been a polytheist for some time. I think polytheism is all that's left for someone that rejects the absolutism of both monotheism and science.
I'mma do a post on polytheism. Good topic. I think you're right in your assessment.
